Mike Glen Roy is a working creative freelancer as well as a business coach. He has credits in award-winning feature films and commercials as a VFX artist and creative director, has started a number of different businesses, and is the founder of Creative Freelance Mastery, a high-level program for creative service-based business owners.
In 1999, joined ReelFX Creative Studios as the 17th employee. Since then, he’s helped grow the animation and creative content studio into a 400+ person company doing over $60 million a year in revenue. He’s created award-winning projects for a variety of national brands including Sony, Samsung, American Express, Verizon, Nestle, Gatorade, Hasbro, Coke, Pepsi, Annheiser-Busch, Lionsgate, Universal, Disney, Showtime, Dreamworks, JCPenney, Electronic Arts, Home Depot, McDonald’s, Chrysler, Chevy, Ford, Toyota, Fiat, and Hyundai.
In 2016 he assisted the company in adding virtual reality to its suite of services, designing workflows and lending creative direction to cutting-edge content for VR 360 platforms. Because of his pioneering work in this space, he’s been invited to consult and speak in a variety of venues from Las Vegas to New York City.
Even with all of this success, though, he wasn’t quite happy. Between a one hour commute each way to work and hitting a pay ceiling, he was ready for something new. He had the desire to “hang out a shingle” and go freelance for years. Shortly after the COVID pandemic hit, he finally got that opportunity, and began working from home full-time as a creative freelancer.
After dialing in his freelance business to generate tremendous results for him and his family, he was ready to embark on another dream: to coach and teach other creative freelancers to help them generate incredible results in their own lives and businesses. He decided to start Creative Freelance Mastery as a high-level program to help other freelancers grow their businesses into results-getting, life-changing machines.
He’s a firm believer that true fulfillment doesn’t just come from personal success, but that it involves serving others. He has a heart for helping people, and has at different times dedicated his resources to inner-city ministry, foster parenting, and working as a houseparent at a children’s home.
He’s originally from Dallas / Fort Worth, Texas, and after seeing much of the world he decided that it was a pretty great place to raise a family. He’s lived there since 1997.
